You will find below details of our Retreats for the coming year, scroll down for the most recently added - they are regularly updated with new dates and venues, so make sure you check back regularly or subscribe to our Newsletter so we can keep you right up to date. As our Retreats are currently very popular we are running a waiting list for cancellations, please use our Contact Us form if you would like to be notified. Let us know if there are specific locations or dates you would be interested in.

We take a great deal of care when selecting our venues.  Each property offers something special in its location or style and has a variety of accommodation.  We offer discounts on shared rooms, so if you are coming along with a friend or partner please call us before booking.  We don't charge single supplements on any of our rooms and we don't ask you to share a room with a stranger.  There are lots of details about how our Retreats work on our FAQs page but please do drop us an email if you have any further questions. 

How to Book

To reserve your place on one of our wonderful Reading Retreats, please click on the Booking Button below the Retreat of your choice. If you cannot see your preferred room in the drop down menu this means this room is already booked. If you are viewing the website on your mobile or tablet, please turn it to landscape orientation as this will make it simpler to navigate the booking process. Please ensure you read our Terms and Conditions before you book.  Submission of your booking is deemed as acceptance of these terms. Your booking is not confirmed until we have received full payment.

Grade ii Listed Vicarage, Lincolnshire - March 2026 - Sold OUT

We are very excited to return to this stunning house and cottage. Part of a large family estate in the Lincolnshire Wolds the properties are set in tranquil gardens and offer the most peaceful setting in which to relax. With a snug and a drawing room, both with wood burning stoves and comfy sofas, there are lots of lovely spots to curl up and read. The nearest station (just over 3 miles) to Great Limber is Habrough, served by Transpennine Express, and there are hourly direct trains from Liverpool, Manchester, Sheffield and Doncaster.  Habrough is also on East Midlands Railway's Leicester-Grimsby/Cleethorpes line, via Nottingham and Lincoln. There are also reliable taxis to pre-book. There is ample parking. This is a non-smoking property.

IDYLLIC RIVERSIDE COTTAGE, SOMERSET - MAY 2026 - SOLD OUT

We are delighted to be returning to this lovely riverside house near Taunton.  Two Victorian red brick workers cottages have been lovingly converted into a gorgeous rural retreat set back from the road in a peaceful hamlet, with stunning views over the Somerset Levels, This beautiful house has a large living room as the main reading room, with an additional garden room to enjoy the view

The cosy kitchen has plenty of space for chatting about books and there are several perfect reading spots dotted about. Each room is beautifully furnished with views of the lovely garden or the river.

There is ample off-road parking and and the nearest station is Taunton which is 10 miles away. This is a non-smoking property.

Quirky beachfront house, suffolk  - JuNe 2026 - SOLD OUT

We are delighted to be returning to this gem of a house in the unusual village of Thorpeness - it is definitely a firm favourite with us and many of our regular Retreaters!  It is spacious and welcoming house, a stone’s throw from the beach.  This is built in the traditional style of the village, created in the 1920s by Glencairn Stuart Ogilvie who developed his land into a private family holiday village.  It’s a well-loved family home with lots of quirks.   There is ample on-street parking. The nearest station is Saxmundham which is 7 miles away. There are reliable taxis to pre-book and a bus service.  This is a non-smoking property.

Beautiful Georgian Townhouse, Derbyshire - October 2026 - SOLD OUT

Built in 1753, this Georgian Townhouse is our chosen location for October 2026.  It’s in Matlock, a former spa town, with lovely walks in the nearby park along the river and to the boating lake.   The house is tastefully decorated and welcoming, with plenty of places to tuck yourself away with your book.  It has a wealth of historic features including beamed ceilings, original fireplaces, and quarry tiled floors.  The house looks out over a local park where Readers occasionally take their coffee and books. We look forward to welcoming you in Derbyshire.  There is limited designated parking nearby and also free on-street parking. The nearest station is Matlock which is 1 mile away.  This is a non-smoking property.

Elizabethan Manor House, Kent - November 2026

The Dower House is a charming Grade II listed Elizabethan manor house nestled in its own large private gardens at the heart of the Knowlton Estate, which is 14 miles from Canterbury. Guests at the Dower House enjoy its secluded location with its magnificent views of the Estate's extensive parkland. The house has two fabulous sitting rooms each with an open fire, which provide the perfect location to cosy down and read. The nearest train station is Snowdown, a small unmanned station, approx 3 miles away. There is parking for 10 cars on the drive. This is a non- smoking house.

Sumptuous Victorian House and Former Shop, Norfolk - January 2027

This beautiful house is a Victorian Shop and house blended together in the 1970s now lovingly refurbished to create a modern, luxury seaside retreat. Located in the beautiful town of Wells-next-the-Sea, it is an elegant modern home curated with the Family’s art collection. The house is Tardis-like in design and relaxes and inspires its guests with home from home comforts. Two of the rooms (6 & 7) are self-contained and located in an enclosed courtyard a few metres from the house. The closest stations are either Sheringham or Kings Lynn. There is no on-site parking but designated parking spaces a six minutes walk away or free on-street parking 2 minutes walk away. This is a non-smoking house.
